Opportunity Snapshot

This position offers you the opportunity to make a significant impact on our Service and Parts Center in Rialto, bringing new energy and focus to ensure the operation achieves its potential in all aspects. You'll join a company whose name is synonymous with quality and performance, and we are implementing processes to make sure we deliver on that reputation -- you'll assume leadership of these processes and see them through. We're offering a variable compensation package that will reward your success generously.

In addition to managing the day-to-day operations of a facility servicing all major truck fleets passing through the Inland Empire, you'll focus on improving performance in specific areas, including customer and employee satisfaction. This will include providing direction to approximately 30 to 35 people, executing the AOP, forecasting trends, and managing P&L performance.

We're looking for a professional with five to seven years of experience in operations management in the transportation industry, including public retail, preferably in a heavy-duty service shop. To be a good fit for this position you'll have solid leadership and motivational skills, including a demonstrated ability to build and maintain trust and integrity among employees. You'll also need an entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to achieve goals independently.

Cummins Cal Pacific is the exclusive distributor of Cummins diesel engines in Southern California. Cummins engines are found in virtually every type of commercial truck and van on the road today, plus over 70% of all diesel-powered RVs, all Dodge Ram Turbo Diesels, fire and emergency vehicles, school and transit buses, shuttle buses and more.

What You'll Bring to the Table

In addition to the qualifications detailed above, you'll need:

What's in It for You

Career development -- while many operations management professionals would consider this an ideal long-term position, if you have the ambition, your success in this role could set you up to pursue other opportunities within our organization.

High impact -- there is a wealth of untapped potential in the Rialto shop, waiting for the right leader to bring it to the surface and let it shine.

Autonomy -- we'll look to you to achieve your goals independently, offering support when you need it and "elbow room" when you don't.

Pride -- over the past 80 years the Cummins name has become synonymous with quality diesel engines and high standards of service and customer satisfaction.

More About Your Role

If you're a good fit for this position, you already know much of what this job entails. However, to be sure we're providing a complete picture, here are some details.

Reporting to our Vice President of Operations, you'll assume leadership of a facility that employs 24 Technicians, 5 Parts Specialists, and 4 in the administrative office. We currently run a day and swing shift Monday through Friday, with the smaller swing shift supervised by a Foreman and Service Advisor. Of course, we expect you'll want to spend time with the swing shift to get to know the people and the practices.

This branch currently is richer in potential than performance, and two of your key objectives will be improving the productivity of the Technicians and the profitability of the operation. Of course, profitability flows from productivity, so your first strategies will revolve around establishing your own credibility, earning the respect of the staff, and renewing the focus on performance. All of these people signed on to be Cummins employees; your mission will be to remind them that the pride and quality attached to that name originates in our people and our performance.

You'll also execute all the management activities associated with running a facility of this nature, including:

Keys to Success

While you'll rely on all your operations management skills, one of the most important will be your leadership ability. You'll need to acknowledge the strengths of your staff and the facility and then build on them, inspiring and motivating your team.

If this sounds like the right mix of challenge and opportunity for you, and you meet the minimum qualifications, we want to hear from you!
